The concept behind THE FIREWORKS PROJECT is simple, and Eric Gauthier’s bait is tempting: a list of iconic jazz songs. The assignment: to have each of these pieces translated into dance by a different choreographer. The result is a series of short, explosive bursts in the tradition of jazz and swing. The short length of the musical pieces demands the utmost concentration in the choreography, which translates into intensity for the audience. Other highlights of the evening include BONUS TRACK by Hofesh Shechter, ABC by Eric Gauthier (originally staged for star dancer Johan Kobborg), and BOLERO + by Andonis Foniadakis. The evening is an explosive mix of the new and the old, a dance of death and a masquerade ball—and the joy of celebrating festivities as they come.

Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart is a young, dynamic ensemble of 16 versatile dancers led by choreographer, dancer, and musician Eric Gauthier. It is now one of the handful of German ensembles with the most extensive touring schedule—both nationally and internationally. Guest performances have taken and continue to take the company to Toronto, New York, Tel Aviv, Venice, St. Petersburg, Monaco, Québec City, Montréal, Berlin, and Chicago, among other places. Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart was named the “German highlight” in the 2022 yearbook of the trade journal tanz and was selected as “Company of the Season” in the tanznetz critics’ poll for the 2024–25 season.
