Enttäuschende Ewigkeit

director: Sarah Kurze
The dream seems as old as the world itself: a journey to the moon. This desire has always expressed humanity’s longing to transcend boundaries — to overcome earthly existence, to break through the limits of human experience. It is no coincidence that one man who pursues this goal today bears the same name as the legendary Roman emperor Caligula, infamous for his megalomania. This modern namesake is prepared to do anything to make his dream of becoming the man in the moon come true — from currying favour with Elon Musk in the hope of joining his planned flight to Earth’s satellite, to raising a staggering 38 billion euros for the endeavour. You may no longer be the first, but, according to Musk, you can be the most important person on the moon — whatever the cost.
Caligula’s obsession with this project is steadily growing, turning into greed. It drives him across the globe — from Rome to Tokyo, from Berlin to the Amazon. He tries to convince everyone he meets on this bizarre journey around the world of his cosmic mission — whether it’s his mother, Oli Kahn, or the moon itself.
A quest that was, perhaps from the outset, an escape from facing himself?
